Substance Use Counseling

Providing Culturally Competent Care to Individuals & Groups

From the Ashes offer a range of services to support individuals who need education, supervision, or treatment in substance use/ mental health in Buncombe County and the surrounding areas. We are committed to helping our clients achieve self-awareness through various programs and other forms of assistance. We work closely with partners, stakeholders and the community to deliver high quality services.

Alcohol and Drug/ DWI-DWLR Assessment- Is a tool used by medical and addiction professionals to determine the extent of a person’s use of substances and how to treat them most effectively. A DWI/DWLR substance use assessment is required of everyone who is convicted of a DWI in the state of North Carolina. You cannot receive a limited driving privilege without a DWI assessment. DWI and substance use groups can only be conducted by facilities licensed by the state of North Carolina.

Substance use Individual/Group Therapy- Substance use counselors work with individuals and groups to provide counseling, education, and support to those struggling with substance use disorders. They may also provide case management services and refer to clients to other resources.

ADETS (Alcohol & Drug Education Traffic School)- Is an educational program for someone involved with an alcohol or drug charge/ DWI case. This program is for people who don’t have an identified substance use disorder but may be at risk for these disorders or for someone who needs a refresher course.

Anger Management- is a 12-week program that focuses on introducing behavior strategies for identifying and managing anger, stress and conflict while enhancing emotional intelligence and assertive communication.

DOT SAP service- If you carry the CDL License and you receive a positive screening, you are required to meet with a DOT approved SAP. From the Ashes help employees who test positive for drugs or alcohol while on duty to recover and return to work. The program involves an evaluation by a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) who determines the appropriate treatment.

Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)- Is a type of behavioral therapy aimed at decreasing the likelihood of someone returning to abusing substances or alcohol. It teaches people in the criminal justice system with substance use disorders to focus on the moral aspects of their illness, and the social consequences that may be associated with using drugs or alcohol.

Clinical Supervision- The goal of clinical supervision is to continuously improve quality client care. Supervision by trained and qualified supervisors helps staff understand and respond more effectively to all types of clinical situations and prevents clinical crisis from escalating. It specifically addresses assessment, case conceptualization, treatment strategies, and discharge planning.

We aim to address not only the public health crisis of addiction and mental illness, but the underlying causes of these diseases in the surrounding communities.

FTA hopes to give back to black/diverse communities, while also collaborating with other black-owned and non-black substance use programs and facilities.
